Our responsable and solidary trips allow the discovery of destinations in a form that is more respectful and more profitable to local populations.
Our trips are based on total immersion in the heart of the country's culture. Composed of day immersion with the locals, activities, participatory workshops with the population, excursions and visits to essential tourist sites, these trips are focused on meeting and sharing.
They allow you to live a strong experience, very different from the “classic” trips offered in mass tourism.
Our stays, designed in close collaboration with local partners, advocate respect for people, their culture, nature and a fair remuneration, distributed fairly.
Choosing AT THE HEART OF THE PEOPLE to travel also means helping local populations to finance their community development projects, affecting: the environment, health, education or agriculture (6%, taken from the price of each travel, are intended to finance these projects).
Our destinations : Armenia, Benin, Burma, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, India, Jordan, Madagascar, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Uzbekistan, Togo, Vietnam.
Our vision of sustainable travel is:
- Travel in small groups (2 to 8 people max), in rural areas, favoring homestay and local providers to promote the local economy and generate additional income for populations who benefit little or not from economic benefits of tourism.
- Fairly compensate local providers to enable them to improve their living conditions.
- Respect the populations and their culture, by adapting to their way of life (learn about local customs before leaving, wear appropriate clothing, respect places of worship ...).
- Respect their environment by consuming local products, by minimizing its waste (ex .: gourd rather than plastic bottles, by being vigilant on its water consumption and by using biodegradable products (shower / toilet), by privileging as much as possible gentle travel and not throwing its waste in nature.
Au Cœur Des Peuples is the result of a shared passion for responsible and responsible travel between Brigitte and Clémence. Our strengths: our values, the complementarity of our knowledge, skills and experience, our desire to combine work and personal ethics and our boundless energy to promote the virtues of responsible and united travel.
Brigitte RUIZ, co-founder and President of the association, has been involved for ten years in the associative and humanitarian world, she had the opportunity to make several stays in different countries which profoundly changed her vision of travel . During these trips, she lived with remote populations who touched her with their simplicity, their generosity and their kindness.
These privileged exchanges were very rich for her. They brought her to reflect on how she could share these experiences, mixed with exceptional human encounters and solidarity actions. From there, was born the idea of the creation of this solidarity tourism association. His wish is to share with travelers all the richness of close contact with populations with a simple, traditional and authentic way of life.
Clémence Souchard, co-founder, has a BA in Applied Foreign Languages English-Spanish, as well as an MBA (Master of Business Administration) and a Master specialized in Management of Tourist Projects, both obtained with a double diploma at the La Rochelle Business School.
Passionate about travel, her thirst for discovery has led her to travel many countries for their landscapes, their people, their traditions and their cultures.
The cumulative university knowledge, as well as his successful professional experiences in the tourism sector, and more particularly his experience of two and a half years as Responsible for the European program of research in Sustainable Tourism, ERNEST (European Research NEtwork on Sustainable Tourism), within the Association "The European City of Culture and Sustainable Tourism", are its strong points.
His knowledge of the tourism sector and sustainable development, as well as his skills in tourism production and communication allow him to be operational in the creation and development of this solidarity tourism association.
