Commitments in sustainable tourism

Our guest house has been fitted out and extended respecting the traditional architecture and using a maximum of local materials such as stone, earth, bamboo. In normal times it allows several Berber families to live on salaries above the local average. We have created and support a free nursery school and carry out various charitable actions in favor of the children of the village. My wife Hafida is herself from the place and an ideal interlocutor to discover the way of life and the practices of the region. Our activities are geared towards immersion in nature with a preponderance for hiking, a bit of mountain biking or donkey rides. The majority of our guests stay at least three nights and we strive to offer full week stays to encourage slow tourism. Apart from these sports, we offer several workshops to learn about Berber life and culture: cooking lessons, bread making, adobe workshop, henna, traditional hammam, language lessons, argan oil making, preparation of amlou, etc.
We use 95% of fresh produce for our meals and practice selective sorting of waste: plants for compost, recycling of bottles and cans, combustion of other waste in the absence of any other solution and rather than throwing the rubbish in the wadi as the locals unfortunately still do. An ozonator makes it possible to use water from the village's spring rather than buying plastic bottles.
Our next sustainable action in progress is the development of a small aromatic and medicinal garden, for educational purposes. The following project will be the installation of a drip irrigation. We refused to build a swimming pool !
